Southeastern Nigerian town of Uyo serves as the state capital of Akwa Ibom. On the route from Oron to Ikot Ekpene, Uyo is located. It serves as a collection point for palm oil and kernels and a local market place for Ibibio-dominated region's yams, cassava [manioc], and palm produce.
The community features a textile mill and a brewery. The University of Uyo was founded there in 1991. Urban aggregate population (as of 2016), 440,000.
