Ogun State

Nigeria's Ogun State is located in the southwest. With an emphasis on metal production, Ogun is the second most industrialized state in Nigeria, behind Lagos. It is well connected to the harbors in Lagos and Lekki by road and rail. Ogun is home to Wole Soyinka, the 1986 Nobel laureate in literature.

The headquarters and largest city of Ogun State is Abeokuta, which also serves as the capital of the Egba Kingdom. Other significant cities in the state are Sagamu, the capital of the Remo Kingdom and the largest producer of kola nuts in Nigeria, and Ijebu-Ode, the seat of the Ijebu Kingdom. The capital of Yewa, or the Egbado Kingdom, is Ilaro.
